Why this blog?

Mom in Yellow Dress with Toddler in Flower Romper || Blog on Yoga, Motherhood, and Healthy-ish Living
Me + P

Almost five years ago, I had a baby. During maternity leave from full-time work and also from teaching yoga part-time, a few things happened:

  • I thought a lot about (and talked a lot about, with friends/colleagues) my yoga practice during pregnancy & how to begin exercising again post-baby.
  • I had a lot of thoughts and questions and inane musings about pregnancy, delivery, registry, and this complicated thing some like to call motherhood.
  • And I realized that I missed having a creative outlet.

Blogging = Weird

Over four years (!) into this blog with a second baby soon on the way, I like that it pushes me to reflect (…negotiating with a toddler and bullet journaling go only so far…) and to put myself out there.

Allowing anyone — both people I know and total strangers — read these semi-private thoughts still feels weird. It’s intimidating. Causes loads of doubt. BUT: being open and public and trying to make some space for this artistic…thing…feels healthy, productive even. Especially when someone else reads something you’ve shared and says, out loud, YES SAME.

So, among these pages, you will find short posts, long blogs, and videos on:

  • Teaching & practicing yoga
  • Mom-ness
  • Toddler-ness
  • Eating good foods
  • Healthy body image
  • Running & exercise
  • What it means to be a good mom, wife, family member, friend, community member
  • How to enjoy mundane, uninteresting, disordered daily moments (#mindfulness)
  • Acceptance and practice of self-confidence in body & mind

Yogini “Keys”

As I transitioned back into work and teaching and our family has continued to learn and maintain new routines, this blog helps me articulate my own ‘keys:’ to yoga, to motherhood, and to healthy living.

And I mean for these keys to be shared with anyone who stops by: Pinteresters looking for a quick but meaningful yoga flow; new seasoned moms/parents (…seasoned parents, please leave comments because I need your help); and everyone else who’s just trying their hardest to live grounded, semi-sane lives.
