Lightroom Mobile Presets are an Inexpensive Way to Make Blog Images, FB Albums, & IG Posts Feel More Professional, Sophisticated, and Cohesive
Like any other new parent, I’ve taken +/- 92837025 pictures this past year. And, thanks to two things, I feel like a more capable photographer. (At the least, I act like I know what I’m doing.) The first is the iPhone X’s portrait mode, a mode so good because it uses the phone’s dual cameras to create a depth-of-field effect. The result is a vivid, focused subject within a blurred background.
And the second is a combo: portrait mode paired with LIGHTROOM MOBILE PRESETS. Lightroom Mobile Presets are an inexpensive, easy way to make blog images, FB albums, & IG posts feel more professional, sophisticated, and cohesive. Presets also help us take baby steps away from Instagram’s ‘Nashville’ & ‘Gingham’ filters, one picture at a time. Thank god.
Heads up! This post contains affiliate links, and at no cost to you, I will be compensated if you click a link that I’ve shared. Thanks!
For parents, bloggers, “influencers” (…still don’t quite know what that means…), even lifestyle photographers — anyone who’s trying to make their photos better or their IG feel like all the pictures belong to the same owner? Lightroom Mobile Presets are where it’s at!
Important Note
I should note here: no preset or filter can replace the talented eye or editing skill that comes from a professional photographer. Not even Lightroom Mobile Presets.
For our recent family photoshoot — one that I wrote a post about and includes tips from our photographer — we worked with Deedee Zimon, a family and lifestyle photographer in Northern Virginia. She was amazing, creating for us family photos that we will blow up big-sized and frame.
See what I mean? Photographer: Deedee Zimon
But for the everyday moments with baby — exploring the backyard, walking on the path, playing in the living room — I still want these pictures to be decent.
And Lightroom Mobile Presets offer what us provincial, non-photographer people would probably call a ‘fancy filter.’
Lightroom is a high-tech photo editing software that takes months if not years to really master. There are, therefore, levels to Lightroom Mobile Presets; some professional photographers offer advanced packages for beaucoup dollars. I have my eyes on a few higher-end preset packages in the future.
But on Etsy — with lots of photographers working to grow businesses or Lightroom-learners…like myself…looking to learn the software — there are tons of affordable (under $5) preset downloads.
Presets make photos pop more. They look edited but not over-edited and are more interesting to share with anyone who stumbles across this blog or my IG. They are even good enough that I’d order small print sizes of these preset-altered photos from a place like Framebridge
I Decided to Make Some Lightroom Mobile Presets!
I actually decided to create & sell five Lightroom Mobile Presets — Desert Boho — on Etsy.
They are under $5, and for me, just the right amount of preset editing. (Some presets make pictures beyond white or sepia-toned or mocha-esque or almost black.)
With these, I tried to find some balance: one can tell there’s a preset, but they’re not over the top.
With these presets loaded and saved into Lightroom’s free mobile app, I can upload any photo into the app, apply one of the five presets, then re-save the photo. And I’m done, with a photo that looks WAY better.
Desert Boho, Now on Etsy!
- Highlight/accentuate whites
- Deepen wood & earth tones
- Articulate greenery
- And make primary colors pop
Examples of Desert Boho Lightroom Mobile Presets
HANGING AT HOME
In this photo, I wanted the preset to emphasize the golden yellow of the sweater, greens in the plants, and white/brightness of the floor play mat and our living room’s walls.
BEACH DAY
Beach day. It was a bit cloudy (albeit still gorgeous), so I wanted to pull out P’s pink/red swimsuit and black and white beach blanket against the blues and silvers and beiges on the beach and sky.
PENELOPE’S FIRST BIRTHDAY
I wanted to pull out blues, reds, wood tones in the floor as well as the rose gold letter balloons. I love that these are contrasted with the whites of the cake, high chair, and her bib + greenery from decorative plants.
Downloading & Using Lightroom Mobile Presets
Lightroom Presets are relatively easy to download and install. I say relatively because it does take a few steps.
